Summer Essentials for Baby
With summer just around the corner you are probably looking for ways to keep your baby cool and comfortable during the hottest months of the year. Where I live in Arizona we have a longer and hotter summer than most others. There are items that are practically life savers for me and my children during the 115º+ days. I have put together a list of my top 10 baby items for summer below.

1. Battery Operated Clip on Mini Desk Fan, Black- SkyGenius
Having a clip on fan for your baby’s stroller and/or carseat is a must when strolling around in the heat.
2. Infant Toddler Unisex Water Sand and Swim Shoes- iPlay
These water shoes are perfect for splash pads, pools, and the beach.
3. Zippered Wet Bag, Cacti- Bumkins
Having a wet bag for wet swimsuits and towels is a great way to contain the moisture and keep the rest of your diaper bag dry.
4. Baby & Toddler Brim Sun Protection Hat- iPlay
A good sun hat will not only protect baby’s head from the sun but will also help shade their eyes.
5. Sunscreen Stick- Thinkbaby
A sunscreen stick makes applying sunscreen to your baby’s face so much easier and less messy.
6. Mineral Based Baby Sunscreen Spray, SPF 50- Babyganics
This spray sunscreen, goes on easily, has a higher SPF and doesn’t feel greasy.
7. Car Seat Cooler- Cooltech
Carseats get very hot in the summer. This carseat cooler can be placed over your baby’s carseat while you are parked outside, then removed prior to putting baby in seat. No buckle burns or uncomfortably hot seat!
8. Ultrasonic Mosquito Repellent- Elevavie
This is a great alternative to insect repellent sprays. You can clip on to your diaper bag or stroller to keep those pesky bugs at bay.
9. Baby Stroller UV Protection Clip-On Umbrella
Having a clip on umbrella for your stroller can add extra shade without having to completely conceal baby, giving them an opportunity to see what is around them. It can also be angled to shade you while you push the stroller.
10. Baby Spring Float Activity Center with Canopy- SwimWays
My little guy loves this pool float/ activity center. It is really durable, inflates easily and folds up compact. *Remember to ALWAYS watch your children in and around water.
These items also make great Easter or Spring Solstice Gifts. I myself prefer to give practical gifts instead of candy or stuff that will end up in the garbage by the end of the day. A basket with some sunscreen, water shoes, hat, wet bag, and pool float would make a super cute present.

These are so helpful. I live where it’s super hot and we have a brand new baby. I was totally lost on how to keep her cool this summer, thank you!

Those baby floats are the best! My daughters just loved floating around in those when they were younger and having the shade was a bonus!
Some really good tips here to keep the little ones comfortable! Thank you for this 🙂
These are all GREAT products! My oldest son was born in May and these were all great for him, even into the summer after he turned 1. We used the stroller fan even more when we went to the beach on vacation. It was a great way to let him nap in the stroller while we sat by the pool!
Very helpful list. We had a stroller fan when my son was a baby. It was a lifesaver on hot days.
Thanks for taking the time to put such a practical and useful blog post together. There were a number of items that I clicked on and earmarked for later. I particularly liked the inflatable water contraption and the clip on fan
I would have loved to have had most of these when my boys were little! The fan for the stroller would have been so nice!
