Diaper bag for my first child:

I don’t even think we had a diaper bag! We were trying to maintain our “coolness” and diaper bags were so uncool to us in 2006. I don’t know what we were thinking and where our priorities were, but our now 13 year old is alive and well. She was formula fed unlike my other two, so that meant we had to make sure we were ready with a bottle and formula. But here is what you could always find in my bag…

  • 4 diapers
  • wipes
  • 1 bottle
  • travel formula dispenser
  • 2+ binky/pacifiers

It really wasn’t that much stuff and could fit in any one of mine or my husband’s bags.

For my second child:

Oh man, he came ten years after my daughter and I went full on prepared for anything. I don’t know why, but I felt like I had to be prepared to survive out of this bag. I did cloth diapering, found Ju-Ju-Be and fell down the rabbit hole… Oh the groups and forums with packing tips and videos. If you needed something, I likely had it in my bag. It was basically a survival bag packed with baby stuff too. You can check out my previous diaper bag packing posts to see all that they contained.

A Ju-Ju-Be Be Quick with the following

  • 4+ diapers: I have found 4 diapers to be my magic number, unless of course I am going to be away for more than a few hours.
  • Pack of wipes
  • Slim change pad
  • Vaseline
  • Sanitizer wipes

A Ju-Ju-Be Large Set Piece containing

  • Snacks for my 3 year old: Figbars, fruit snacks, apple sauce pouch
  • Snacks for me: granola bar, salty snack of some sort, M&Ms… for me or bribery ; ).
  • Sleeve of powder baby formula: I don’t know why I keep it with me considering my youngest has never needed it. But it makes me more comfortable knowing it is there.

A Ju-Ju-Be Medium Set Piece containing

  • Feminine products
  • Nursing Pads
  • Eye Drops
  • Acetaminophen

Bumkins Reusable Snack Bag with the following

I really like using the Bumkins Snack Bags for children’s medicine. They keep the medicine and the dose syringe together and are washable, in case it leaks.

In the bag’s interior zipper pocket

  • Pacifier wipes: Because my little guy’s binky is CONSTANTLY falling out and hitting the floor.
  • Kleenex Wet Wipes: these are great for wiping down shopping carts, table and pretty much any other germy surface you or your littles come in contact with.
  • Flushable wipes: for my three year old

Lose inside the tote diaper bag

  • Spare pair of undies and shorts for my 3 year old
  • Footed sleeper and onesie in case of diaper blow out
  • Muslin receiving blanket

Exterior Bottle Pockets

These pockets are HUGE! I usually just throw my older son’s Contigo in one and my Hydroflask in the other when gathering our things to head out.

Exterior Front Pocket

I usually just keep this pocket for my wallet or phone which fit nicely in my Studio Tekhni pouch. It makes it easy for me to just grab my pouch and leave the diaper bag if I am leaving the baby at home or just popping into a store quickly.

So yeah, that pretty much sums up my diaper bag currently. I will likely share another diaper bag packing once my littlest guy is eating solids, because that begins a whole new stage of diaper bag packing! I would love to here your tips and tricks for packing for two. Please share them in the comments section below. Also if you have any questions, I would love to answer them…

As always thank you for reading!
