Natural Disposable Diaper Comparison

Personally, I would like to put the safest materials possible on my baby.  Not all diaper companies list their ingredients but they do advertise that they are hypo-allergenic and free of harsh chemicals.  All of the below diaper companies state that they are chlorine, fragrance, lotion and latex free.  They are also free of lead or heavy metals.

After months of trying different brands of diapers on my almost two year old son, I have put together my top three and did a little comparison and product review for you.  My son is a heavy wetter at night and currently wearing size four diapers.  The below information is based off of size four diapers only.

Enjoy, and I hope that you find the below information useful.

Honest Co.

Price: About $0.44 each

Honest Company diapers appear to be the least expensive.  There are also opportunities to use coupons fairly regularly or even sign of for a subscription on Target.com

Availability: I have been able to find these diapers pretty much everywhere diapers are sold making them very available.  Easily found on Amazon as well (link below).

 Honest Diapers-Overnights

What I like about Honest diapers: What I like about Honest Company Diapers is the prints.  I probably bought more of these diapers because of their cute prints and combination boxes (two different prints).

What I don’t like:  Not that I am a person who thinks that there are gender assigned characters or colors.  I do, however, have a hard time finding the more gender neutral prints on my surrounding Target location’s shelves.   A completely gender neutral design would be nice but all that seems to be left in my son’s size is the floral designs and very “girly” prints.  Because of the lack of just one gender neutral design I have found myself buying the overnights instead, which cost more.  Also, the regular Honest diapers don’t work for my son overnight so I was having to buy two separate packages of diapers for different times of day.

Pampers Pure

Price: About $0.48 each

Pampers Pure are the most expensive, however, there are usually coupons available and the trial packs that come with 3 diapers that cost $3 come with $3 in coupons.

Availability: These diapers too, are available at most retailers that sell disposable diapers.  Also available on Amazon (link below).

 Pampers Pure Diapers

What I like about Pampers Pure diapers: The thing I like most about Pampers Pure diapers is that they are gender neutral designs.  I also like the indicator stripe that helps let me know if the diaper has been soiled.  There have been so many diapers thrown away because I wasn’t certain if they had been urinated in.  They are also absorbent enough for me to not need an “overnight” diaper.

What I don’t like: I do not like the price, I don’t know why these are more expensive, but they typically are more costly everywhere I shop.

Aden + Anais

Price: About $0.45 each

aden + anais diapers do not seem to have coupons available, or at least I haven’t found/seen them.

Availability: I have only found these at Buy Buy Baby in-store and on adenandanais.com.  I have also found them on Amazon but not with any regularity (link below).

  aden+anais diaper

What I like about Aden + Anais diapers: Right out of the box I noticed how unbelievably soft these are.  They are very much like the Aden + Anais swaddle blankets that I love and want to wrap myself in.  The prints are ADORABLE too.  Lastly, these diapers are super absorbent and even feature a wetness indicator as well.  OH, I almost forgot to mention that Aden + Anais also plant a tree for every pack of diapers sold.  That is pretty awesome if you ask me.

What I don’t like: I don’t like that they are not available at more retailers.  The only place I have been able to buy at is BuyBuyBaby and there are only a handful of those in my home state.  If these were at Target or even the grocery store, I would definitely make these my “go-to” diapers.

My Conclusion

I would definitely register for Aden + Anais diapers if you are creating a baby registry at BuyBuyBaby.  While I like Honest diapers I would probably recommend Pampers Pure if you end up with a heavy wetter.  Having to buy additional overnight diapers costs more and is inconvenient.  But honestly, I do flipflop between the two brands when shopping at Target, the cheaper of the two will always win a trip home with me.

I do recommend looking into cloth diapering.  We loved cloth diapering my son and can’t wait to go back to it.  Our current living situation made us decide to put it on hold temporarily but will be going back to it once our new home is done.  You can read more about my cloth diaper recommendations and experiences here and here.

Do you have a favorite diaper brand?  I would love to hear your thoughts below in the comments section.
